Valentina was staying with her sister Anastasia for the winter holidays, but seeing as her sister seemed to be out and about more often then not.. staying at home got rather sickening for the sixteen year old girl. It got tiresome, sitting in the apartment when she'd much rather be exploring the place she would be calling home for the next year or two. She wasn't familiar with any of the towns but the unknown hadn't ever stopped her before, and that was why she found herself slipping into the spare bedroom to change. Tossing her sweat-pants and thermal shirt she slept in to the side, she grabbed a pair of dark-wash skinny jeans and shimmied them over her slim hips. After a moment of debate she settled on an olive green v-neck sweater, and brown boots. She thought it all went together quite nicely, looking fashionable and still warm all at the same time. Grinning at her reflection in triumph, she merely raked her slender fingers through her messy hair and shrugged. No make up was needed for tonight, she decided.
Checking once more to make sure Ana hadn't returned home, she said goodbye to Petrone and slipped out of the apartment complex. Pulling on her coat just as she stepped outside, she was surprised by just how chilly it was. She shivered out of habit, although she was grateful for the cold, in a way. She was bound to stay awake now with it! Although the ice underneath her feet was going to be difficult to navigate...
She was having an itch for trouble, although she wasn't sure why. What could there possibly be to do around here at the time of night? It was only eight but it was already pretty dark, not that it bothered her or anything. She walked aimlessly, sooner or later coming past a sign that alerted her of Little Whinging. Who knew her sister had lived so close to a different place like this? With a shrug she ventured even further, her wand snug in her left boot.
Eventually she came across an alleyway, and hoping to take a shortcut to somewhere she began to round the corner.. until she heard a bunch of urgent whispers. Freezing in her steps her eyes widened a fraction and she quickly backtracked out of the alley, just enough so she could press up against the building and not be seen. She tried to quiet the hammering of her heart and the sound of her breathing so that her eavesdropping would be more effective. She knew it was wrong to do but she was bored! She strained to hear even more, unconsciously leaning forward. She was just about getting bits and pieces, something about a duel and it taking place soon... and then she heard the sound of scuffling feet from behind her.
Blowing out a loud sigh of exasperation she quickly shot a glance over her shoulder, blue eyes glaring at whomever was ruining her excitement. "Be quiet, will you? You sound like a bloody elephant with the way you're dragging your feet!" She hissed into the darkness. She was well aware that this wasn't the best first impression and she had no idea of who she could be dealing with, but the argument further down the alley was proving to be much too interesting to miss.
